Five years ago, there was an idea to hold a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Now here we are in 2019, still going strong. And it’s time to celebrate in the best way possible. With more racing. In this post, I have some of the specifics of the events, including the schedule and eligible cars. You can also begin to sign up for the events in this post.

As a celebration of the five year anniversary of racing on Oppo and as a build up to this year’s 2.4 Hours of Le Mans, we will be holding a series of events, some new and different, others revivals of past series. And as always, it is certainly not competitive racing or extremely aggressive racing. If you’re spending hours tuning your car weeks before a race you’re doing it wrong. If you’re racing purely to win you’re doing it wrong. Just have fun with it. We’re pretty chill and just talk about cars and banter a lot of the time. That doesn’t stop us from having some !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , though.

It is open to anyone and everyone. It doesn’t matter how good or bad you are at the game. We have people of all skill levels regularly race with us. It results in some great racing, too. All of these events, especially the endurance races, are some of the most fun I’ve ever had in Forza. Here are some videos and pics from the previous Oppo events, some of which will appear again in the coming weeks.

THE EVENTS

These events will encompass many different cars, ranging from GT3 car to vintage F1 cars to Group C cars. Some of these cars we are very familiar with. Others...not so much. Tracks for the events were selected either from the calendars of the series they are reviving or in order to try something new we could not before. As many of the original rules and procedures as possible will be used. There will be a total of 5 events, the info for each one is listed below. Links to proper race posts will be added as they are created.

Track: COTA Full Circuit, Day AND Night

Cars: 3 classes (GT3, SPX, ST), SPX and ST Gold and below only

Length: 3 Hour Endurance (1.5 in day, 1.5 at night)

Rules: Similar to OEC with modified caution procedure, no qualifying, strict limit of 24 racers unless large amount of interest (36+)

Builds Rules

EVENT 2: Oppositelock Trans Am Revival: June 12th, 8:00 PM EDT

Track: Sonoma Full Circuit

Cars: 1960's and 1970's Muscle and Pony Cars

Length: 45 Minute Sprint

Builds Rules

EVENT 3: Oppositelock 1970's F1 Revival/Niki Lauda Tribute: June 12th, ~8:45 PM EDT (Will run immediately after Trans Am)

Track: Maple Valley Full Circuit Reverse

Cars: 1970's Formula 1 Cars

Length: 45 Minute Sprint

Builds Rules

EVENT 4: 2.4 Hours Of Le Mans Open Test: June 14th, 9:00 PM EDT

Track: Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe

Cars: OEC III GTP and GTS (may also allow TORA 24 cars since just a test race)

Length: Open session as long as wanted

EVENT 5: The 6th Annual Oppositelock 2.4 Hours Of Le Mans: June 16th, 6:00 PM EDT

Track: Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe

Cars: OEC III GTP and GTS

Length: 2.4 Hour Endurance

THE RULES

Each of these events will have their own different set of rules that are tailored to best fit the event. These rules will be made available closer to the time of the actual events. If you’ve raced with us before, you probably know what to expect already. Though I can say there will be some new ideas that will be tried in some of the events...

They will be handled the same way as any of our other races. Drive like you are in an actual race, and not an online public matchmaking lobby, and you will be fine. If you are new to racing with us or need a refresher, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! This will give you a general idea of what to expect. I also have my own rules outlined later in this post.

Also, instead of using parties or gamechat, we are going to be using an app called Discord to communicate during the races . It is available for free on any desktop or mobile OS. Please join the Discord server even if you don’t have a mic, that way you can still hear everyone else. Or just join if for the dank shitposting. If for some reason we are not using the app or it fails, we will be using gamechat to communicate, and hoping for the best.

If you are participating in one of the events, please click the appropriate link above to complete a very brief survey so I can keep track of who signs up and their gamertags (the only information required is your gamertag and Oppo and/or Reddit username). Also, if you sign up and for whatever reason are not sent a friend request by me, feel free to send me one as well as a message indicating that you intend to join the series. My gamertag is Corey CC97. In addition, you can get in contact with SVTyler (GT: mackleroy45) or anyone on the Discord if you do not hear from me, and they will get you set up. If you do not complete the survey or get in contact with me or the other people racing somehow, there is a very good chance you will not be sent an invite to the race on raceday.
